The Tasmanian Pistol Association Inc. (TPA) is the State’s peak body for the sport of target pistol shooting, accountable for the growth and development of the safe and challenging sport of Pistol Shooting.
Affiliated with the National body, Pistol Australia (PA) which provides our members with direct access to 23 events that are all graded to suit all levels of members and also includes categories for athletes with a disability.
PA is responsible for conducting national championships in all ISSF, International 1920 Match, Metallic Silhouette and WA1500 match events. Its members are represented through Shooting Australian (SA) to the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF), the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), the Australian Commonwealth Games Association (ACGA) and the Australian Sports Commission (ASC).
The ISSF is the only organisation recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the governing body of amateur international shooting sport for all international shooting competitions. Thus the ISSF controls the technical regulations in all the target shooting disciplines including pistol, rifle, running target and shotgun.
